The CPGIS Award Selection Committee and the Student Best Paper Competition Committee are pleased to announce the 2026 CPGIS awards recipients and the award ceremony is held at the Geoinformatics 2026 International Conference at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Based on the voting results of the Awards Selection Committee, with five members present, the candidate receiving the highest number of votes in each category was selected. As the CPGIS Distinguished Scholar Award was not conferred last year, the Committee recommended two recipients for this year.
The award recipients are as follows:
• CPGIS Service Excellence Award: Xiang Chen (University of Connecticut)
• CPGIS Education Excellence Award: Ziyue Chen (Beijing Normal University)
• CPGIS Young Scholar Award: Qunshan Zhao (University of Glasgow)
• CPGIS Distinguished Scholar Award: Haowen Yan (Lanzhou Jiaotong University) and Tao Cheng (University College London)
• CPGIS Innovation Award: Min Chen (Nanjing Normal University)
• CPGIS Student Best Paper Awards:
1st place: Ce Hou (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology)
2nd place: Guangjun Zeng (National University of Singapore)
3rd place: Yiming Zhang (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee), Hanwen Zhang (The University of Hong Kong)
These award recommendations are approved by the CPGIS BOD.
