The Geoinformatics conference series was initiated by the International Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Sciences (CPGIS) in 1992. This international conference series has provided a unique forum for exchanging novel ideas and cutting-edge knowledge on geographic information sciences and technologies among GIS professionals worldwide. The 24th International Conference on Geoinformatics (Geoinformatics 2016) will be held during August 14 – 20, 2016 at the National University of Ireland (NUI), Galway, Ireland. The conference is co-organized by CPGIS and NUI, Galway.

The main theme of Geoinformatics 2016 is Linking Environment and Health. The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for researchers, professionals and students in Geoinformatics to exchange innovative ideas, demonstrate cutting-edge technologies, and present inspiring applications. The conference program will include plenaries, featured, oral, and poster sessions. We welcome papers on all aspects of GIS methodologies, theories and applications in a wide range of fields and research areas, including geosciences, geography, geographical sciences, resource and environmental sciences, public health, Virtual globes and virtual geographic environment, transportation science.

Publications:

The abstract should be less than 1,000 words in English. Authors of accepted abstracts/papers will be invited to submit full papers and give oral or poster presentations at the conference. Decisions about whether an abstract/paper is accepted or not will be based on rigorous peer review. 

Selected papers may also be invited for a special issue of an international journal. The submission system of the conference will soon be opened to accept online submissions.

(1) The registration fee does not include accommodations and tour packages. Accommodations will be paid at participants’ own expenses and rates will be announced on the conference websites soon.

(2) The registration fee does not include the publication fee for inclusion in the digital conference proceedings.

(3) The oral/poster presentations are NOT allowed for on-site registrants.

Publication Fee:

For those papers included in the IEEE indexed proceedings, there is a publication fee of US$ 200.

Fieldtrips:

The conference will offer optional field trips through local travel agency. The extra fees may applied.

Instructions to Authors:

Please carefully read the instructions as follows:

1.     Authors can submit an abstract with an attachment of extended abstract or full paper in Word file.

2.     The author(s) will be notified if the abstract is accepted to be presented at the Conference.

3.     The author(s) will been asked to submit the full papers online if not yet after the abstract/paper is accepted.

4.     All abstracts and full papers accepted to be presented at the Conference will be included in the CD published by the Conference Organizers and will be distributed to all participants of the Conference.

5.     For a full paper that is selected to be published by the IEEE proceedings, the Conference Organizers will charge a publication fee of US$200. The fee will be used to cover the cost in managing, reviewing, and compiling the submissions for the proceedings. The authors will be notified about this fee in the paper acceptance notification. 

6.     The length of an extended abstract is 800 – 1000 words in English. It is basically a shortened full paper and contains all major information about the research, particularly the methodology, results, and conclusion. Please use the template of extended abstract on the conference website to prepare your submission of this type.

7.     A full paper must strictly follow the format requirements of IEEE. Please use the template of full paper or an example of full paper on the conference website to prepare your full paper submission. The length of a full paper is 4-6 pages. It is also highly recommended that the paper be proofread by an experienced English editor. Papers that do not meet the format and language requirements will not be further reviewed for content. 

8.     If the authors whose papers have been selected for the IEEE proceedings are not able to attend the Conference, they must notify the Conference Organizers 4 weeks before the Conference. Papers of the authors who fail to do so will be withdrawn from the proceedings, and the publication fee will not be refunded.
