The Department of Geography and Geology, at Eastern Michigan University is accepting applications for a tenure-track Historic Preservation Specialist at the Assistant Professor rank. The full-time position in the Department’s Graduate Historic Preservation program begins September 2011. The preferred candidate has Ph.D. (or 18+ hours of post-graduate credits) in Historic Preservation, American Studies, Historic Architecture, Preservation Planning, Public History, Heritage Tourism, Tourism Geography, or related field. Demonstrated experience or potential in teaching, research, publications, and grants is required. Proficiency in developing online and hybrid courses is preferred. Teaching responsibilities may include preservation basics, adaptive use, architectural interpretation, building technology, vernacular architecture, grants and funding, heritage interpretation/tourism, Geo/sustainable tourism, and field methods.
